DOING THINGS MY WAY

DOING THINGS MY WAY
(King James Expositor Study Bible).

Isaiah 55:7-8 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. (A general promise of forgiveness of sin upon Repentance and amendment of life was implied by the Lord from the very beginning [Gen. 4:4], but was actually given to Israel through Solomon [II Chron. 7:14]. The Doctrine is largely preached by the Prophet, but is nowhere so distinctly and emphatically laid down as in this place. God’s Will is to “multiply pardon,”if man will only turn to Him. The words, “abundantly pardon,”have the idea of “Justification by Faith.”God sets the sin aside as though it never happened, which can only be brought about by Faith in Christ and what Christ did at the Cross, of which the Sacrifices in Isaiah’s day were symbols.) 8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My Ways, says the LORD. (The idea of this Passage is that the “thoughts”of God and the “Ways”of God are so far above the comprehension of man, that man must take these statements by Faith. However, Verse 8, in essence, points toward the Sacrifice of Christ, which would be nearly 800 years into the future, and which would bring about the Redemption of mankind, at least for those who will believe.)

II Chronicles 7:14 If My People, who are called by My Name (Believers), shall humble themselves (humility), and pray, and seek My Face (the prayer of Repentance), and turn from their wicked ways (which proclaims the manner of true Repentance); then will I hear from Heaven (but not otherwise), and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land (God’s Prescription for spiritual sickness).

After Repentance, there must a change in Living and a change in the way we talk.
